Fluoman, artiste-peintre français, né en 1952, décédé à Marseille à l'âge de 53 ans.
Il laisse derrière lui près de 600 oeuvres qui ont la spécificité d'être réalisées à base d'acrylique fluorescente, ainsi chaque peinture réagit à la lumière noire (ultra-violets) qui fait ressortir des contrastes invisibles à l’œil nu et qui offre une multitude de visions différentes de ses toiles.
Son nom d'artiste vient de cette capacité à illuminer ses toiles de Fluo.
Deux mondes importants ont conditionné son parcours : l'Afrique et la musique. Il trouve la synthèse des deux en découvrant le reggae et son message : le retour vers l'Afrique.
Fluoman participe à l'effervescence du reggae en France dès les années 70. Il est l'un des pionniers de la culture rasta en France.
French artist and painter, Fluoman died in 2005 at 52 in Marseille. He left over than 600 works all realised on a base of fluorescent acrylic; in this way every paintings react to , which underline unseen contrasts and give a multitude of views for each paintings.
His name comes from this ability to light up his works with fluorescent paint.
His work lead him to travel all around the world, especially in Africa where he had painted many of his paintings.
In 1981, Fluoman went to Jamaica, and made a fresco wall at Tuff Gong, Bob Marley’s dwelling who he had personally met few months before during concerts in Paris.
During his stay in Jamaica he had also painted at Joseph Hill’s place. Joseph Hill from Culture (died in 2006) with whom Fluoman had good relations.
In deed, Fluoman took part in the French reggae movement in the 70’s. He was one of the pioneers of the French rasta culture.
